In der zweiten Podcast-Folge dreht sich alles um das Thema „Wasser & Grenzen“. Macht euch enttäuschungsfest. Vielleicht werdet ihr seekrank. Am Horizont zeigen sich Wahrheiten, die Wellen schlagen und uns am liebsten abtauchen lassen würden. Wir sprechen über Grenzschutz und die Verletzung von Menschenrechten. Über globale Erderwärmung und die Folgen kapitalistischer Strukturen. Die Meerjungfrau Melusine antwortet uns auf die Frage, ob wir noch zu retten sind und wir sind froh, sie an Bord zu wissen.

Episode 2: Water & Borders
The second episode of the podcast is all about "Water & Borders". Make yourselves disappointment-proof. You might get seasick. Truths loom on the horizon that make waves and would make us want to dive underwater. We talk about border security and human rights abuses. About global warming and the consequences of capitalist structures. The mermaid Melusine answers the question whether we can still be saved and we are glad to know her on board.

Woche 2: Überschwemmung, Solidarität und viele Begegnungen
Die zweite Woche von Altenburg am Meer begann im Nachklang zur sintflutartigen Überschwemmung am vorherigen Wochenende. Vollgelaufene Keller und eine geflutete Baustelle hielten die Stadt und uns auf Trab: Es waren Tage voller Solidarität und Nachbarschaftshilfe und gemeinsam konnten wir bald alles wieder trockenlegen.
Auf der Werft ging es diese Woche weiter mit den Schleifarbeiten und mit Unterstützung der Bauschlosserei Arnold wurden die Lecks im Rumpf zugeschweißt. In den anderen Werkstätten ging es ebenfalls voran: die Bordfunke-Crew produzierte gemeinsam mit Schüler*innen und Altenburger*innen ihre zweite Podcast-Folge, die Paraden-Werkstatt erweckte wütende Fische aus alten Plastikkanistern zum Leben, die Puppentheater-Werkstatt vertonte vielstimmig Teile ihres Textes.
Und auch allerlei schöne Begegnungen füllte diese Woche: wir wurden vom Altenburger Imam zum Grillen eingeladen, haben mit Schüler*innen ihre Ideen zur neuen Jugendbibliothek besprochen, die Vorsitzende vom Wasserstadt e.V. aus Leipzig begrüßt und Interviews für die World Canals Conference gegeben.
Es war bunt, trubelig und sehr bereichernd! Ahoi und ab in die nächste Woche!
Week 2: The Flood, solidarity and many encounters
The second week of Altenburg by the Sea began in the aftermath of the immense flooding on the previous weekend. Flooded cellars and a flooded construction site kept the city and us on our toes: These were days full of solidarity and neighborly help and together we were soon able to dry everything out again.
At the shipyard, grinding work continued this week and, with the support of the local company Bauschlosserei Arnold, the leaks in the hull were sealed. The other workshops also made progress: the Bordfunke crew produced their second podcast episode together with students and people from Altenburg, the parade workshop brought angry fish out of old plastic canisters to life, the puppet theater workshop recorded new parts of their text.
And also all kinds of nice encounters filled this week: we were invited by the Imam of Altenburg to a barbecue, discussed with students their ideas for the new youth library, welcomed the chairwoman of Wasserstadt e.V. from Leipzig and gave interviews for the World Canals Conference.
It was lively and very enriching! Ahoy and off to the next week!
