BOOTSTOUR #3: Hamburg - Lübeck - Ostsee
Nach einem schönen, sicheren Winterlager am wunderbaren soziokulturellen Zentrum Honigfabrik in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg geht es wieder auf die Reise - Mary Jane bricht mit einem internationalen Team für eine künstlerische Residenz zu den Themen Langsamkeit und Lokalität auf ans Meer!
In der Woche vor dem 14.05. gab es dafür aber nochmal Programm und Tamtam an Veringkanal — im HoFa Hafen haben wir im Innenraum der Mary Jane eine neue Bank und Schlaffläche gebaut - ab jetzt können fünf Menschen gemütlich an Bord ihre Koje finden. Und auch ein stabiles Holzdach wurde gebaut - aus einem alten Schul-Bühnenboden, und mit Hilfe unseres Segelmacher-Freundes Albrecht auch langfristig wasserdicht!
Neben dem offenen Bauen fanden zwei Tanzworkshops in Improvisation und Akrobatik für Kids (8-12 Jahre) und Jugendliche (ab 14 Jahre) statt. Gemeinsam mit der Kinderkultur der Honigfabrik haben wir an unserem Körpergefühl, an Architekturen der Balance und Hebungen, und an Gruppen-Dynamiken gearbeitet. Zum Schluss der Aktionswoche haben wir das Puppenstück „Vom Grunde des Meeres“ gezeigt, Flaschenpost an die Zukunft mit Menschen aus dem Kiez geschrieben und im Anschluss eine inspirierende Diskussionsrunde mit dem IFSH - dem Institut für Friedensforschung und Sicherheitspolitik in Hamburg - durchgeführt. Mit vier Input-Beiträgen, die von den Fragen und Gedanken aus dem Puppenstück ausgingen, diskutierten wir mit Expert*innen in Kleingruppen Aspekte einer Zukunft mit oder ohne Menschen - zu sozialer Ko-Kreation im Kiez über Kollapsologie und der Wirkmacht von Endzeit-Narrativen, hin zu technischen Experimenten zwischen Low-Tech (Nebelfangen in der Wüste) und Hightech (Killerquallen-Robots). Wir freuen uns auf weitere vertiefende Kooperationen in der Wissenschaftskommunikation mit Kunst und Soziokultur 🌱 🔮 🧮
Am 16.5. war es dann soweit - mit bunter Besatzung stach Mary Jane frisch in den Frühsommer, Kurs auf Lübeck! Mit an Bord unser Freund und Dichter Mohamed Idoumou aus Nouakchott, der die schwimmende Residenz zu poetischen Reflexionen zur Langsamkeit nutzte (auf Arabisch und Französisch). Ebenso das Figurentheater-Kollektiv Panne Fatale aus Paris und Berlin, die auf dem Boot das Puppenstück umbauten und verkleinerten. Das Ergebnis könnt ihr dann in Lübeck bewundern - dort treten wir nämlich dreimal auf beim integrativen Superkunstfestival! Die fünfköpfige Besatzung schipperte also die Elbe stromaufwärts, hielt in Geesthacht und Mölln (wo wir einiges an Flaschenpost aus Hamburg loswurden), und passierte Lübeck, um in Travemünde endlich ein großes Versprechen an unseren Heimathafen Altenburg einzulösen: Mary Jane fuhr ins Meer!
Altenburg lag am Meer. Am 20.05.22 um 14.22 Uhr war es soweit - der Hafen-Leuchtturm wurde hinter uns gelassen, Leute winkten fröhlich von den Kai-Mauern (das bunte Boot sorgt oft für freundliche Grüße) und wir glitten am stolzen Viermaster Passat vorbei. Salzwasser unterm Kiel! Mary Jane machte einen Törn auf der Ostsee! … aber weil wir die Sturmwetter-Warnung im Sinn hatten, kehrten wir dann auch brav wieder um und brachten das Altenburger Kulturboot in seinen Sommerhafen in Lübeck.
Es - ist - vollbracht! Wir waren im Meer!

BOAT TRIP #3: Hamburg - Lübeck - Baltic Sea
After a nice, safe winter- stay at the wonderful socio-cultural center Honigfabrik in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg, it's time to hit the rivers again - Mary Jane sets off to the sea with an international team for an artistic residency on the topics of slowness and locality!
In the week before the 14.05. we organised a cultural programming and workshops on the shores of the Veringkanal - in the HoFa harbor we built a new bench and sleeping area in the interior of the Mary Jane - from now on five people can comfortably find their berth on board. And also a stable wooden roof was built - from an old school stage floor, and with the help of our sailmaker friend Albrecht also long-term waterproof!
Besides the open building, two dance workshops in improvisation and acrobatics for kids (8-12 years) and teenagers (14 years and older) took place. Together with the Kinderkultur of the Honigfabrik we worked on our body awareness, architectures of balance and lifts, and group dynamics. At the end of the action week we showed the puppet play "From the bottom of the sea", wrote messages in a bottle to the future with people from the neighborhood and afterwards held an inspiring discussion round with the IFSH - Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy in Hamburg. With four expert inputs based on the questions and thoughts from the puppet show, we discussed with scientists and practitioners in small groups aspects of a future with or without humans - on social co-creation in the neighborhood, on collapsology and the power of end-time narratives, to technical experiments between low-tech (collecting fog in the desert) and high-tech (killer jellyfish robots). We look forward to further deepening collaborations in science communication with art and socioculture 🌱 🔮 🧮
On May 16, the time had come - with a colorful crew, Mary Jane set sail into the early summer, headed for Lübeck! On board was our friend and poet Mohamed Idoumou from Nouakchott, who used the floating residency for poetic reflections on slowness (in Arabic and French). Further, the puppet theater collective Panne Fatale from Paris and Berlin rebuilt and down-scaled the puppet play on the boat. You can admire the result in Lübeck, where we will perform three times at the integrative Superkunstfestival! So the crew of five sailed upstream the Elbe, stopped in Geesthacht and Mölln (where we got rid of quite some messages in bottles from Hamburg), and passed Lübeck to finally keep a big promise to our home port Altenburg in Travemünde: Mary Jane sailed into the sea!
Altenburg lay at the sea. On 20.05.22 at 14.22 o'clock the time had come - the harbor lighthouse was left behind us, people waved cheerfully from the quay walls (the colorful boat often receives friendly greetings) and we glided past the proud four-master Passat. Salt water under our keel! Mary Jane made a trip on the Baltic Sea! ... but since we had a storm weather warning in mind, we dutifully turned back and brought the Altenburg culture boat into its summer harbor in Lübeck.
It turned reality! We were in the sea!
